Join the Philippine Meteorological Society and help advance meteorology and allied sciences in the Philippines through professional growth, collaboration, and public service.
PMS membership welcomes professionals, students, and individuals with relevant training or interest in meteorology, atmospheric science, hydrologic science, and related fields.
Section 1: Nature
The PMS shall be composed of professionals and students engaged in the field of meteorology and allied sciences, that upon the approval of the Board of Trustees through a resolution, become a bona fide member of PMS.
Section 2: Qualifications
The members of the PMS shall consist of and be limited to the following:
- Present and former employees of Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
- Present and former employees of other Science-based Organizations, National Government Agencies and Learning Institutions whose field of interests are related to the objectives and purposes of the Society.
- Students enrolled in legitimate learning institutions majoring in the field of meteorology and allied sciences.
- Individuals with related knowledge in meteorology and allied science with proofs of training related to these sciences, such as Certificate of Completion and Training Certificates.
Section 3: Application Process
Aspirants for membership of PMS shall undergo the following procedures:
- Applicants must accomplish and submit through email or courier mail the membership form accessible through the PMS Secretariat. All applicants are required to submit applications with attachment of proof of Trainings and or education related to meteorology and allied sciences.
- The Secretary of the PMS, and the Chair of the Membership Committee will review and propose for endorsement of membership to the Board of Trustees.
- The Board of Trustees during its regular, special, or emergency meeting reserves the right to approve or disapprove applicants reflected through a Board Resolution.
- Upon approval of the Board of Trustees, the applicant will be notified by the PMS Secretariat for the payment of membership fee and annual dues as determined by the Board of Trustees, Section 5, Article IV, Constitution.
Section 4: Membership Classification
Members of the PMS are classified according to the following classifications set forth by the Board of Trustees:
4.1 Regular Members. This classification of membership applies to:
- Those who hold and have held professional degrees and positions on atmospheric and related sciences, such as Weather Specialist and above or equivalent position in other institutions, or those who successfully completed the Meteorologists Training Course (MTC), Hydrologists Training Course (HTC), Agrometeorological Training Course (ATC) and other related Trainings accredited by the World Meteorological Organization Training Centers.
- Those who hold baccalaureate, graduate, or post graduate degrees in meteorology, atmospheric science and other related sciences from accredited institutions and are currently engaged in science-related profession.
- Those who are holding professional administrative positions in the atmospheric and other institutions and have undergone training in meteorology and allied sciences.
4.2 Associate Members. This classification of membership applies to:
- Those who are holding or have held sub-professional positions in PAGASA and in other scientific institutions.
- Those who are holding professional and administrative positions in PAGASA and in other scientific institutions.
- Teachers in the field of sciences in all level of education.
- Those who are self-employed and science enthusiast equipped with related background and trainings helpful in achieving the objectives of the PMS, and must submit copy of such training certificates.
4.3 Students Members. This classification of membership applies to:
- Those who are currently enrolled in tertiary education with degrees related to meteorology, atmospheric science or related sciences. Submission of proof of enrolment is needed.
4.4 Honorary or Institutional Members. This classification of membership applies to:
- Those individuals who are part of institutions or other organizations that support the activities of the atmospheric, hydrologic and related sciences.
- Those who meet the technical requirements or have interest in atmospheric, hydrometeorological and other allied sciences.
